Inner Space
Around 2021, when I first started dabbling with creating interactive / generative 3D art using Three.js, I was into the idea of creating a single exhibition-like space that would serve as a way for someone to move around and view a range of interactive / generative artwork forms without leaving the one space. I also had an idea that the artworks could be imported into the gallery-like space, but could also be viewed stand alone, or even shared into other virtual spaces and VR etc.
At the time I modelled a rough concept for a space in Blender and threw together an initial prototype which I called ‘Inner Space’. If by chance you’re interested, you can find an example of this on Instagram here.
Over recent years I’ve been chipping away at Three.js around my teaching work, and I’ve covered a lot of distance in terms of learning how to work with physics and develop player / control systems. Recently I have been rebuilding my previous control system and I wanted to see how it would look and feel in a first person context. So I revisited my old Inner Space concept and threw this de,p together fairly quickly, with the goal to build on it at some point in the future. - You can find an example of my latest player control system in a third person context here.
Otherwise, I still have a lot to do in terms of fine tuning and extending the control system. There’s also a whole bunch of ideas I would love to explore in terms of potential concepts for virtual 3D spaces, as well as things like integrating VR support and generative audio into these kinds of spaces.
